Caxton London was founded by Angela from her love of stationery. Her inspiration for the Caxton brand came from William Caxton, who was an English merchant and printer, thought to be the first Englishman to introduce a printing press into England in 1476.
Caxton London first opened its doors in 1990 in Temple Fortune, London NW11 as a stationery shop with related desk accessories. After a short time Angela’s son, Matthew, joined her and after listening to their customers, they found that stationery was not enough. They were being asked for so much more - glass, silver, ceramics, leather accessories, silk scarves, handbags and travel items, fragrances and candles….the list goes on!
Fast forward 25years, the family business Caxton London has grown to become the shop where you are sure to find that ‘special something’. Our British handmade glass selection is renowned, as are our unique gifts - ever changing with something always new and vibrant. Of course, stationery continues; in the form of the prestigious Vera Wang brand of wedding invitations and social stationery.
The shop is now run by Matthew and his team but he and Angela continue to travel extensively to source great new products. Caxton also stocks many brands which change frequently to incorporate new trends. Here are but a few: Ortigia, Alessi, La Cafetiére, LSA, Phillipi, Day Birger et Mikkelsen, Sheaffer and BRICS……
The time has arrived for us to bring the glamour of London shopping to you, wherever you are - in the country, by the sea or in the hills and mountains anywhere in the world. We want to share the Caxton experience with customers who can’t just drop into Temple Fortune. So now you can find that special and thoughtful gift sourced by us, selected by you and delivered to your door all in one click.
Matthew looks forward to welcoming you online, in-store, on the phone or by email.
As customers tell us:
“If you see a Caxton carrier, you know there’s something wonderful inside”.
